Hello and happy Saturday to you! I’ve been hard at work this week writing a few stories for the second Consortium expansion, working title “The Fifth Race”, but I wanted to step away and let you know how things are going.
Right now, we’re all working on filling out the details for this unique new race. The other writers and myself ask each other important but sometimes bizarre questions like, “how much time do they spend raising children?”. It might seem strange but every little quirk and layer helps us to develop a deeper understanding of the alien race that we’re portraying. Someday I’ll ask Ed what’s the strangest background question he’s ever gotten from a writer… it might be pretty interesting.
Along with developing an entirely new species, Ed and some of the team are working to fashion new and unique items and weapons. It takes a great deal of creativity to come up with something useful and imaginative that isn’t too far from the realm of possibility. They have a whole list of fabulous things started already. If it were up to me, everyone would have teleporters and Star Trek style replicators. Which is probably why Ed doesn’t have me working on item creation.
