Era: Crueltide was an idea I came up with last Christmas. Actually, it was already published last year in a very minimal way via The Era Zone Issue #15, which is currently only available in digital format.
It’s not supposed to be my most serious game ever; it’s more in the style of Era: Lyres or Era: Friction.
Santa has been kidnapped!
It was the Jack O’Lanterns who were behind it, but the Snowmen were convinced by them that they would never melt if Christmas never started. They fell for this but the real reason the Jack O’Lanterns are fighting back against Christmas is because Christmas gets earlier every year.
With Thanksgiving already almost taken over by Christmas, they fear that Halloween will be next, and that we are on a slow march to Christmas being all year round.
This game focuses on the personification of various mythological and holiday-related characters, such as the Easter Bunny, Cupid, Santa, the Jack O’Lanterns, the Headless Horseman, and various others. It’s a strange mix of really silly and extremely brutal, and I kind of like it that way.
I think if you want to dig into a mythological world with a little bit of a Christmas flavour, this game is absolutely perfect. And given that I intend to deliver it to you by Christmas, you should be able to use it for your chosen Christmas session with your group… even if you don’t want to have a longer campaign (which the game absolutely supports!).
Whatever your level of interest, it’s a relatively inexpensive bit of fun that I decided to bring to life properly this time, including artwork, new spells, and various other enhancements compared to the original Era Zone version.
You should go check it out! it’s a lot of fun, and it’ll be on Kickstarter at this address very shortly: we intend to launch on the 29th!
