Era: The Empowered Development Update 4 – Gearing Up!

Hi everyone!

Here I am with another update.

Today, I’m going to talk Equipment – we’ve been working through it over the last few days and it’s looking fantastic! Here are a few samples:

plasma cannon-websafe KNIFE DART 2 Copy-websafe medium armour Copy

As always, we have a nice selection of equipment, alongside the Empowered Abilities, which you can use as well or instead of your powers.

In terms of progress through the book, Proofreading is ongoing through the story (it’s a big job!), and I’m now working on the last of the location descriptions.

Yes, that does mean that I have now finished all 45 of the Power Trees! What superpower do you want to see? Let me know and I’ll drop the completed Power Tree in the Facebook group!

See you next week…

More Consortium Adventures Coming Your Way – The Oracle

As the Home Base Expansion book continues to take shape we’re also looking forward to an increase in available adventures for the entire Consortium series. Ed has put out a general call for writers to join this project and several people have already come forward to help out. We’re looking to grow the number of scenarios and campaigns by leaps and bounds so pay attention to this space because they’re coming in soon!

Today’s featured image is another peek into Home Base. So far I’ve shown you the engine core and general quarters areas which are both very essential for a solid home base. Something that’s not a life-sustaining essential but still an integral part of any working base is the Skunkworks. When you want to develop new weapon upgrades you’ll have to do some research and there’s no better place to conduct your top secret improvements than in your own Skunkworks lab.

Some of you may recognize the name Skunkworks from another science fiction game. Ed chose to label this Home Base feature as a reference to an older turn-based strategy game. Any other fans out there remember Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri?

Overall, things are moving along smoothly for Home Base as well as the rest of the Consortium. Next week I’ll have more news and updates for you so be sure to stop by!

See you then!

Hi everyone!

I’m finally ready to talk clans with you guys, and I’m starting with the Garcia Clan!

Danielle, who you already met, is at the end of the timeline, in the final of the three eras. The clan, however, has been a central part of the war with the Anonassi since the very beginning: they were the second family on record to encounter it and quickly became allies of the D’Aoust and the Rostov clans in their fight against the forces of Erebus.

Their philosophy is “Shoot it! If it doesn’t die, shoot it again!”

The Garcias are dedicated to taking the fight to the Anonassi and eliminating them whenever and wherever they encounter them. They sometimes take crazy risks, all in the name of eradicating the threat to Humanity. They are fearless warriors and believe that every denizen of Erebus must be destroyed or driven back for people survive.

The Garcias consider marksmanship to be as important to the education of their children as reading and writing, and it is a point of honour in their family that all of their members know how to shoot.

They are deeply loyal to their clan, to the Chosen and to the Human race in general.

In the game, each of the five clans will allow characters special equipment or training!

Era: The Empowered Development Update 3 – Layout and Images

Hi everyone!

Here’s the latest on the Era: The Empowered Core Rulebook development, right from the source.

We’ve been working hard, and we’re making some great progress. I’ve finished all of the Locations in the game now, so that brings the Part 1 writing to completion, apart from 5 more stories, all of which are due by the end of this week.

Keith is doing a second round of work on the layout, and it’s coming along nicely – I think this book is going to measure up to our usual high standards of layout!

He’s also working through the artwork as fast as humanly possible – the featured image is one of his latest completed images, and I think it’s looking great! We’re continuing to press on through those images with the aim of finishing them by the end of this month.

I’ve still got to write the Campaigns, but that’s something I’m very used to, and I’m expecting to send the first chunks off to proofreading any time now!

All in all, we have some potential issues with the timelines, but we’re still hopeful we can make our extremely ambitious May deadline!

Please let me know if you have any questions, of course!

Shades Of Vengeance Is Going To MCM Comicon! – The Oracle

I’m taking the day off from Consortium announcements today to talk about one of our biggest events of the year; the MCM Comicon convention in London. Ed and the event team spend countless hours going over every detail to make sure your experience with us is top notch. When you visit our booth we’re ready and prepped with several captivating game sessions, physical copies of our books, and answers to all your most pressing questions.

This year, as always, we will be attending MCM on the last weekend of May. We will be set up at Stand 830 near the N4 entrance which should be fairly easy to find so be sure to stop by! This year, we’re also going to be doing something a little different than our previous appearances. Drum roll please…

For the first time ever, SoV Comics will also be located in the Comics Village! This separate location will allow us to display all our comics in one place and make them available to everyone. Our comics team has been hard at work developing new stories and adding on to our existing series. For the last six months we have been building up both Era: The Empowered as well as Era: The Consortium comics collections with the addition of Bug War, Violete, and Blue-Shift. Now it’s time to bring them out and show them off properly!

Our comic stand will be located in N1 at the Comics Village and the table will be run by none other than the Head of Comics for Shades of Vengeance, Johnathan Lewis. John is coming to MCM all the way from America to talk comics. He has a long history of working with comics and he’s ready to answer every question you have so take some time and be sure to drop by.

Both John and Ed will be appearing at some panels during MCM so definitely take note of those as well. They’ll be talking about being creative, a subject both of them know quite a bit about! So, get those tickets and make your plans to meet us at MCM Comicon May 25-27th.  http://www.mcmcomiccon.com/london/

Before I leave you today let’s just take a minute and appreciate today’s feature image. This piece of Consortium artwork comes to us from Bug War 2. If you ask me, it looks like we’re in for another action packed adventure!

That’s it for now, I’ll see you back here next week for more updates!

Hi everyone!

Today, I’ve got a little bit of artwork from the Core Rulebook to get us started on exploring the world of Era: The Chosen!

As you know, the game is set across three time periods, roughly analogous to the Renaissance, Victorian and Modern eras. Each of these offers different technologies.

When the war began, the horrific forms of the Anonassi were more than any human could hope to oppose alone, so large groups of Chosen were taken through the portals into the Lost Lands to fight.

Battlecruiser Alamo Kickstarter Has Launched! – The Oracle

The first days of the Battlecruiser Alamo Kickstarter have already been great. This fantastic RPG based on Richard Tongue’s expansive military sci-fi novel series is your first-ever chance to experience the author’s vision of his universe through an immersive style of gaming. There will even be some newly added details that everyone, including steady followers of the novels, will find revealing. Come check out this latest game developed with the Shades of Vengeance team!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/shadesofvengeance/battlecruiser-alamo-rpg-an-era-d10-game?ref=1pvro1

In Era: The Empowered core rulebook news I’m happy to report that the team is currently finishing up the last of the background stories as well as loads of artwork and layout. All these things are happening at the same time which has been keeping the entire team hopping quite a bit! Our featured image today comes from this very rulebook.

This is Harbinger’s Faction. If you like to define things into good vs evil or heroes vs villains, these folks would be our “villains” in the Empowered universe. Taken from their faction description page you’ll see: Harbinger, Monolith, Vigilance, the Necromancer (who is featured in the Blue-Shift comic), Retrospect and Hephaestus (who has something of a part in the Violete comic). Our heroes get plenty of time to show off so we decided it was only fair that we bring out the other side for you as well.

The whole team is hard at work trying to finish this book in time to have it printed and ready for the May MCM Comicon event! You’ve already got your plans made and tickets purchased, right? I have a special bit of MCM news that I’ll be sharing with you this weekend once Ed has had a chance to confirm so head back here on Saturday to make sure you don’t miss out!

That’s all I have for today, I’ll see you on Saturday for a full day of MCM news!

Era: The Empowered Development Update 2 – Psychometry Power Tree…

Hi everyone!

Today, I wanted to show you what I’ve been spending a lot of time on recently – a Power Tree for the Core Rulebook.

This is one for a more unusual power out of the 45 I’m doing: Psychometry. This power was suggested by one of our playtesters, Mark Haines, and was very interesting in gameplay!

I thought you might be interested to see it, so here it is.

On a more practical note, I’m about 2/3 of the way through making these power trees now, and Keith has just sent back the preliminarily laid out version of the rulebook.

Next comes a full edit of the rulebook by me to make sure the character voices are consistent throughout, that the story flows correctly, updating timeline entries and so on. We are finalising a couple of the stories, but I expect that to be done before I get to them, as they are relatively quite far through the timeline!

All in all, I am still pretty optimistic that we’ll be done in time, as long as the artwork gets finished.

Era: The Chosen – The Truth Behind the Legends (Part 2)

Hi everyone!

This is Part 2 of the “The Truth Behind the Legends” story.

I’ve also included the title image here, because that is Danielle Garcia herself, one of the greatest Chosen of the gun-toting Garcia Clan! Each of the Clans has its own identity, which I’m sure I’ll explain to you in the near future…

Enjoy!

– Ed

———————————————————————————-

After we got back to the normal world I’d always known, Danielle told me the truth. She told me how we humans had been hunted for years, but then finally we’d started fighting back. Certain families of humans, blessed – or cursed – with the ability to see the monsters began fighting back to keep these demons out of Aether. (I didn’t even know until that moment that we even had a name for our dimension, but the choice makes sense.) She said that the fight had been going on for generations, and that her family had been involved since the beginning.

Humans began our fight with swords and flintlocks, the best technology we had at the time. But technology changed, prodded by necessity and by the discoveries of the D’aoust clan. I had heard the name D’aoust – everyone in Harbour City has – but she told me that they salvage technology from this secret place, and that has made them powerful. She said that there are humans living in that grey landscape, and that the Nakamuras are helping them in their battle against the monsters. She told me of how he Chikes have been working for generations to counter the biological effects of the Anonassi. She explained how the Garcias develop and provide the latest weapons to the others for the fight. And she said that the Rostovs have fought all this time to keep everybody else ignorant of the life-and-death struggle that’s been going on right under their noses.

We’ve come a long way from swords. We’ve come through the invention of the rifle and high-velocity ammunition up to today, with our automatic weapons and clips of high-calibre shells. The gun in Danielle’s hand was the most advanced weapon I’d ever seen, and she smiled at me when I said so, telling me, “Oh, this? Sure, she’s a good gun. I like to have her by my side in a fight. But if you think she’s amazing, you should see her big sister in the arsenal.”

That’s how I first learned that I was Chosen.

Consortium Expansion Details – The Oracle

All of our remaining Expansion books are hard at work in their separate development processes. Things are chugging along well and even on the project that has seen some delay we are still expecting to finish well in advance of our commitment date of October. So, where are we at now?

Ed has just confirmed that the New Worlds print run has been given the go-ahead. We should be seeing physical copies of this book in short order so you won’t have to wait much longer to get your hands on one! Time Travel Part 4 is our project that has encountered some small delay as the book is undergoing proofreading. The same proofreader who is working on Time Travel Part 4 is also working on Era: The Empowered for the mid-year deadline we’re hoping to reach. That’s a lot of work to be done but we’re confident that we can still deliver this Consortium Expansion head of the October deadline.

The Home Base expansion book now has a graphic designer! This designer will be building the example ships which display slots for places where facilities can be placed. You should be fairly familiar with some of those facilities already as they have been our featured images recently. Today’s image details the Life Support System, as you can imagine, this is the most vital system you’re going to have in your ship. We’re very excited to see what this graphic designer will create for us and we’ll be sure to share updates just as soon as we get them!

That’s it for updates this week, I’ll be back again next time with some news about our upcoming attendance at MCM Comicon.

See you then!

Era: The Chosen – The Truth Behind the Legends (Part 1)

Hi everyone!

This is very first official post of Era: The Chosen content, and I felt it is appropriate that it’s Part 1, Section 1 of the Rulebook – “The Truth Behind the Legends”.

This story serves as an introduction to the world, and I’ll be posting it in 2 parts, as it’s a little long for Facebook!

– Ed

———————————————————————————–

We all know the feeling. It’s the crawling sensation on the back of the neck, the insistent, niggling feeling that we’re being followed. It’s the feeling that there are eyes in the dark, watching. Waiting. In that moment, you know – just know – that there is a clawed hand reaching toward the back of your head.

Sometimes we stay still and try to ignore the feeling. Sometimes we whirl around, but there’s nothing there. Then we laugh, pass it off as imagination, and go on with our lives.

But… what if… what if there really was something there, but you just weren’t able to see it?

Or perhaps you’re one of the people who can see…

Our world is under siege. Our existence is threatened.

The truth is that we’ve probably been living under the shadow of this threat for hundreds of years, since the first cases of Dark Fever were identified in Harbour City. I’ve lived here all my life, and I never gave it any thought. I never knew about the threat until just recently.

One moment, everything was normal, ordinary. The next thing I knew, an arm grabbed me around the stomach, forcing all of the air from my lungs like a giant vice. I fell to the ground, blacking out for a moment.

When I opened my eyes, a land of dark greys was before me, the sand and the sky virtually indistinguishable. Standing over me was a creature like nothing I’ve ever seen. It had three mouths, and they murmured through jagged teeth while its long, lithe body coiled in preparation for attack. It had huge clawed hands that hovered over me, ready to slash with deadly purpose.

I tried to scramble away, scrabbling no more than a few inches across the dry ground, terror making my body disobedient and clumsy. The monster seemed to smile as it took a single step closer, making up the distance between us, raising its hand to strike.

That’s when she appeared.

The first thing I heard was what seemed to be a series of explosions. My focus on my impending doom meant that it took several heartbeats for me to identify the explosions as gunfire from a high-calibre automatic pistol. Holes appeared in the creature in what seemed like slow motion. Vital fluids – black, like its skin – leaked from them, some falling onto me. There was another burst of gunfire, and this time the monster’s head just exploded. The headless corpse fell on me, pinning me to the ground and covering me with more blood.

A grinning woman appeared over the creature. She was brown-skinned, tall, athletic and pointing the high-calibre pistol I had heard earlier at the creature, carefully avoiding me. “First time?”

And that’s how I met Danielle Garcia.

Updates On Era: The Chosen – The Oracle

The latest Era game from Shades of Vengeance is starting to unfold and in the coming weeks I will have more news and weekly updates for you about this brand-new horror rpg. For a more constant feed about this game you can join its growing Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/erathechosen/ where posts will start appearing on the page as soon as this Friday!

As some of you may remember, Era: The Chosen is our first in-depth exploration of the horror genre. The game is created by Ed Jowett who has brought together some old and new faces to join him on the writing team. Darren Pearce, Jennifer Martin, and JA Cummings have all added stories to this thrilling game universe and it’s already looking fantastic. I will be sharing updates on this new game as they come my way and the facebook group will have feature images as well as sneak peeks of content so don’t forget to check that out as well.

Another big game that’s getting its official start quite soon is the Battlecruiser Alamo RPG. Our featured image for today has been taken from this upcoming game and it looks brilliant! With the launch of its Kickstarter next week you’ll finally have a chance to see for yourself what Richard Tongue’s detailed and expansive military sci-fi universe is like. This game will use the familiar Era d10 Rule Set so it will fit in nicely with your current collection of Era games.

That’s all I have for today. I’ll see you next time with more news!

Era: The Empowered Development Update 1

Hi everyone!
As promised, here is the first weekly update.

Writing is about 80% complete on the Core Rulebook, with most sections being laid out at the moment. I hope to finish that and send it off to proofreading before much longer – that doesn’t have necessarily to wait for the artwork to be proofread and indexed.

Keith is working hard to complete the remaining images on the timescales we need to. We’re optimistic, but it’s going to be a lot of work.

Our stated aim for the launch date is still 25th May, and we have to have sent out all of the Kickstarter backers’ copies by then if we’re going to launch on that schedule, so we’re working hard towards that. We hope to put it up on our store around June/July, once all of the Kickstarter rewards have been fulfilled!
If you’re a backer of the Kickstarter, please refer to my latest Update for a stage-by-stage breakdown of where each section is at, along with a sneak peek at a couple of the Power Trees and the latest artwork by Keith.
Now I’m pleased to present a story about the Old Gods, and how they choose to recruit people to help them out… after all, they aren’t infinite in number.

———————————————————————————-

“That feller’s no Ares,” Bastion huffed. “Don’t nobody read the paper ‘round here?” He still hadn’t got used to only speaking mentally when K’Jarr was facilitating a telepathic nexus. He ducked, dodging a bolt of electricity that came close enough to frizz his hair.
K’Jarr immediately dropped the lamppost he had been swinging like a club. Being the nearest piece of metal around, it had attracted the bolt and he had no desire to be on the other end of another discharge, even with his metal-laced skin grounding him. “You’re right,” he shouted. “Looks more like the lightning one to me!”
“Nah.” Bastion picked up the now-grounded lamppost and chucked it like a spear, knocking down an overly tall man bearing what looked like a trident. “Electric Storm, that one’s called. Got jailed for blackin’ out the whole city an’ then robbin’ everyone blind. The one what calls ‘imself Ares is Warmonger, and this honkin’ bastard with the harpoon is Drizzl. Scoundrels, both of ‘em.”
Adam’s voice echoed in their heads, compliments of the telepathic nexus. “So you’re saying Artemis is rounding up criminals and calling them gods?”
“Ayuh.” Bastion ducked behind a skip, shielding himself from a shower of arrows that were coming faster than any ordinary archer could draw a bowstring. A few of the arrows bounced off, while several embedded into the metal.
“Brilliant,” Zoey chimed in mentally. “I’ll take criminals over actual gods any day, but it doesn’t change the fact that we’re getting our asses kicked out here. I have golems made out of golem pieces, and one’s got bits of toilet paper in it. I don’t think I can hold out for much longer.”
“We can’t get there from here, girlie,” said Bastion, giving the skip a push to send it cannoning down the square. Several of Artemis’ troops scattered out of its way.
K’Jarr ignored his comment. “Show me where you are, we’ll cover you!” he told Zoey. Then he left Bastion’s side without another word and ran into the heat of the battle.
Bastion shook his head. “Mad as a hatter,” he mouthed.
“I heard that!”
He shrugged and followed after K’Jarr. All manners of projectiles, ranging from poisoned darts to bullets, whizzed past his head, a few bouncing off his metallic skin. “Damn fools can’t decide which age they belong to,” Bastion muttered. A bent trashcan lid clattered on the asphalt before him. He picked it up, and using it like a racket, started whacking at the flying projectiles. It didn’t work very well with bullets, but he found that he could bounce darts like shuttlecocks. He could even aim with half decent accuracy.
When Bastion reached the others, his trashcan lid was a mangled piece of steel, dented halfway to hell. K’Jarr was already fighting off a half-naked figure in a toga, who was carrying an oversized shield and a sword that looked like it was stolen from a theater’s prop room. Zoey was busy keeping a horde of half-crumbled golems at his heels. The sight was almost comical, like mice attacking an elephant. “How are you holding up?” Zoey asked, as she tried to orchestrate the moves of her knee-high army.
“Finest kind.” Bastion grinned. “Playing tennis, it’s great fun. Them gods ain’t immune to their own poison, I’ll have ya know.”
“I hate to burst your bubble,” said Adam’s voice in their minds, “but they are actually. The poison just knocks them out for thirty seconds or so. Then they’re up again. And they’re pretty pissed.”
Bastion frowned and took a swing at a woman wearing a set of fake wings. “Fly, little birdie!” he taunted, but the woman only staggered for a few steps, then charged back at him with the flaming torch she was holding. The flame stretched out like a snake and wrapped itself around Bastion’s wrist. He let out a curse and gave the woman a hearty kick, sending her sprawling on the ground. Shaking out his burned wrist, he readied himself for the next attack. “This would have been a lot easier if we didn’t have to deal with a whole herd of ‘em,” he told the others. “Pickin’ ‘em off one by one would make sense. This is like that story, pluggin’ the whassit with your finger. We’re gettin’ flooded.”
“I have to agree,” said Adam. “I’m also hearing the word ‘reinforcements’ a whole lot out here. I think Artemis has more people coming.”
Zoey frowned. “More? We’re drowning as it is.”
“Is that consensus, then?” K’Jarr asked as he kept fighting. “Better part of valour, live to fight another day and get the hell out of here in general?”
Bastion nodded. “Retreat, not defeat. Let’s get the hell outta here.”

Finishing Touches For Expansion Games – The Oracle

Every week we seem to be moving ahead with Consortium Expansion books in leaps and bounds. Today is certainly no exception!

The New Worlds proof has now arrived with Ed! He has been taking a close look at this finished product to make sure everything is exactly as we want it and has signed off on an official print run of the book. This is an exciting move and means that you’re going to be holding those physical copies in your own two hands very soon!

Our other expansion book in the works right now, Home Base, is in the process of being given additional images. We want these books to be as engaging as possible so we’re pulling out all the stops and building in plenty of art. This week, the image that I get to share with you is the Engine Core. You’re going to need one of these if you plan to have a spaceship as your home base!

Don’t forget to check out our Patreon page for monthly campaign sessions, wallpapers, and other Era: The Consortium sneak peeks!

That’s it for me today, I’ll be back here next week to talk more Consortium updates.

See you then!

Kickstarter Final Words For Era: The Empowered – The Oracle

We’ve made it to the end of two more successful Kickstarters! Both Era: The Empowered’s full rulebook and Blue-Shift’s comic have now finished their events. Thank you to everyone who stopped in to check these out, passed along the campaigns, or helped these projects by becoming a backer. Your support means that we can keep making more magnificent games!

Era: The Empowered ended its event at $8800 which is a great accomplishment. Because of all your generous support we were able to unlock a whopping SIX Stretch Goals! For all you who chose to become a part of this campaign you’re in for some fantastic additional rewards. Every time Ed creates a large-scale Kickstarter like this he adds in more opportunities and more rewards than the last event. In the coming days and weeks, those of you who backed the full rulebook will be getting more details on all those extras and goodies.

This will be our third full-sized game and will weigh in at a hearty 300 pages for its Core Rulebook! We mean to give you as much world-building and correlating content as possible so don’t forget that along with a core rulebook we also have the Player’s Guide as well as the Tales of the Empowered and several comics to help you fill out those gaming sessions.

Speaking of comics, Blue-Shift had some amazing support from all you fantastic fans as well. With your help we were able to unlock the final Stretch Goal of the Kickstarter. This means that the comic itself will double in length so you’re in for twice as much speedster adventure as before! We will be finishing the lettering and sending this book out to supporters soon.

In thanks for all your help pushing these two Kickstarters past funding and even into some seriously fantastic Stretch Goals, I’ve got a page out of Blue-Shift’s comic to share with you today. This is definitely one of our best looking comics yet, enjoy!

I’ll see you back here on Saturday for some Consortium news!

Hi everyone!

Today, I’ve got a little bit of artwork from the Core Rulebook to get us started on exploring the world of Era: The Chosen!

GmTitlePage-websafe

As you know, the game is set across three time periods, roughly analogous to the Renaissance, Victorian and Modern eras. Each of these offers different technologies.

When the war began, the horrific forms of the Anonassi were more than any human could hope to oppose alone, so large groups of Chosen were taken through the portals into the Lost Lands to fight.

Consortium Miniatures Update – The Oracle

The Consortium Expansion books are making impressive headway this week with New Dawn off to printing and Time Travel 4 in the hands of proofreading. However, the real headline for Consortium news today is all about the progress of the upcoming miniatures!

A prototype model was sent to Ed for inspection and it looks amazing! As you can see, the level of detail is impressive and if you’ll recall the 3-D image we shared with you earlier of Awwuzia, she looks just exactly as that image promised.

We’re really thrilled with the way this first model has turned out but there is something we’re not entirely satisfied with. The size isn’t quite right. This version is a 28mm miniature which is just too small in our opinion. We want you to be able to easily see all that magnificent detail work. So, Ed has decided to have this reprinted in a larger size. It’s an exciting project and we can’t wait for you all to get a chance to have your very own members of Stiletto unit!

That’s all the news I have for you this week, I’ll see you here next time for more news and updates!

Do You Want To Write for Shades of Vengeance? – The Oracle

Ed is on the hunt for writers to help us expand our universe! We have a brilliant staff of writers with a wide range of experience and we’d love to add your voice to our team. Your work will primarily be with the development of sessions and campaigns for our Era titles. Are you familiar with our different worlds?

Era: The Consortium is set inside an epic futuristic universe where a small handful of huge corporations rule the major aspects of society. In this world, five separate races of sentient beings exist together across several planets in a sometimes uneasy peace. Add those elements to the existence of a rebel faction trying to overthrow the establishment and you’ve got some fantastic adventures waiting to happen. Do you have a great idea for a new Consortium session?

Era: Survival is our dark look at a world torn apart from within. This universe is filled with many factions of humans all trying to survive in their own way against the horrors of the Infected. Life on Gaia is a struggle and any who survive will face mounting odds as they work to build a life as best they can. Between the monstrosities stalking you in the wild to the zealous factions willing to do anything for their own survival, this world is hostile even on its best day. Perhaps you can think of new possibilities for future campaigns here?

Era: The Empowered is our newest universe and set inside a somewhat more familiar world. Heroes, villains and bystanders populate Earth starting from their discovery in the mid 90s and running through an expansive history. There are any number of super powered characters to follow in a sweeping story arc which will see the rise and fall of many great heroes. Have you ever wanted to write your own super powered session? Now is your chance!

Whether you’re fascinated by the possibilities of future species and technology, revel in the struggles of survival in the darkness, or enjoy the thrill of super powered battles you will find a good home writing sessions and campaigns for Shades of Vengeance. For more information send a message to Ed either through our website or Facebook. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

That’s all I have for you today except to remind you that we have two Kickstarters winding down this week. This will be your last chance to get in on these so definitely check them out. Era: The Empowered’s core rulebook will end on Sunday and Blue-Shift’s comic will finish up on Friday. Don’t wait!

I’ll see you on Saturday for a quick Consortium update!

The Future Of The Consortium – The Oracle

Last week I gave you a list of all the Consortium Expansion books and where they were at in the process of development. Well, I am happy to report that as of today New Worlds has gone through its proofreading pass and Time Travel Part 4 is off to the proofreader! These books are making fast progress and it won’t be long before they are in your hands.

So, now that we’re nearing the end of this round of Era: The Consortium books I suppose you might be wondering if we’ll be slowing down, resting on our success and taking a break. Nothing could be further from the truth! If anything, we’ve got more planned than ever before.

In addition to the upcoming audio drama “Radio Free Taranis” as well as the Consortium audio book, we also have several more projects in the works. Of course, if you’ll remember from the images I’ve posted a couple weeks back the very first thing on our list to complete this year are miniatures! Ed has an amazing sculptor working on these figures and we’ve been absolutely thrilled so far with the results. We can’t wait to show off these mini-members of Stiletto Unit!

Along with these exciting extras, we’re also developing several new Era: The Consortium books. These projects are in varying states of completion. Era: “The Resistance”, a source book for the rebels of the Consortium has already been partially written and needs some additional artwork to fill it out. The Sirona Specials Campaign written by Egg Embry as well as the Creatures of the Outsystem books both need some finishing. We also have sessions that will appear in Time Travel Part 5 almost complete through Patreon.

That may seem like a long list but I’m not finished yet. Ed has plans for at least another 500 years of Consortium history! There are some major events on the way which will include the introduction of the remaining two “Chosen Races” as well as one if not additional massive wars coming in the years ahead. Trust me, things are only going to get more interesting for those in the Consortium.

We’re truly excited to see how events in the Consortium are going to unfold. This game is more than just our flagship title, it’s one that each of us are thrilled to continue to develop. We don’t plan to stop supporting Era: The Consortium and we hope that you’re as excited about where we’re heading as we are!

That’s it for me today, I’ll see you next week with more news and updates.

Spotlight on EraScapes – The Oracle

Right now, we have two big Kickstarters happening at the same time!

Era: The Empowered’s Core Rulebook and Blue-Shift’s first ever comic have both been doing amazing and with just above one week left to gather more support there’s a good chance that either of these projects might achieve another Stretch Goal. If Blue Shift breaks the $1200 Stretch Goal, then the entire comic will double in length! That would be a fantastic addition for everyone supporting this story. Read more about the Blue-Shift comic Kickstarter.

If you’ve been following our Empowered Core Rulebook Kickstarter you may have noticed some exciting audio additions. Leo Cosh, the man behind “EraScapes”, has turned several Empowered stories into audio adventures for this Kickstarter event and he’s done a superb job. Leo is a talented voice actor who has been using his considerable skills to bring several of our games to life and It’s time you hear more about what he’s been up to!

Along with the audio stories you’ve seen on the Empowered Kickstarter, Leo has also created an audio drama called “Hardcastle’s Havoc”. This was his first major work with the Era games and it turned out fantastic! You can find a copy of this drama based in the Era: The Consortium universe on his Soundcloud page… If you haven’t already, you need to immerse yourself in this captivating 14 minutes of tense Consortium action!

Leo is just getting started with his audio work for Shades of Vengeance and you’re going to hear quite a lot more from him in the coming months. Currently he is working on an audio book (with Ed directing) for the entire story of the Consortium! This large-scale project is not the only thing he’s busy with as he is also working with both Ed and myself on a brand new Consortium audio drama series called “Radio Free Taranis”. Radio Free Taranis is the story of underground radio host Midnight Terry. We invite you to read more about Terry and the details of this upcoming project.

Like the expansion of our comics division, adding Leo and his audio talents to the work we’re doing at Shades of Vengeance further deepens the world-building of our Era games. We love creating all this extra content to help you dive into the universe. Whether it’s blasting off to fight in the Bug War with Era: The Consortium or learning to control your superpower of flight with Era: The Empowered, we want you to feel like you’re completely at home in these worlds. To that end, we’re excited to fuse Leo’s audio talents with our games and can’t wait for you to hear more of his work.

That’s all the latest news I have for you today. If you’d like to gather with other like-minded folks who want to know more about the Empowered you can join our Facebook group where Ed posts daily updates and behind-the-scenes details that are available nowhere else.

All this work on Era: The Empowered doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten about our other games and Saturday I get to share with you a few new things for Era: The Consortium!

See you then!

Expansion Books Are Nearing Completion! – The Oracle

The last three Consortium Expansion books are on track to finish up soon. We had promised delivery of digital rewards by October of 2018 so we’re definitely ahead of schedule! This means it won’t be long before you can gather your friends and play some of these fabulous additions. Here is a rundown of where we’re at with our final three books.

The Time Travel Campaign Part 4 book is currently undergoing edits by Ed. He’s put aside other work to focus on this book and is expecting to have the edits finished this week and then will send it off for layout. Things are moving along fast for this title and once Ed’s gotten past these edits he will pick up where he left off on Home Base. This book is also developing quickly and we expect things to progress as scheduled.

New Worlds has been handed over to Keith where he will work on the graphic design of the solar system map as well as the layout. This book is looking fantastic and to help you get an idea of what we’re talking about I’ve been given an image to share with you. See what I mean? Fantastic!

Things are coming together for these Expansion books and we can’t wait for you to get your copy and tell us what you think. For those of you who are still eager to get some new Era: The Consortium content head over to our Patreon page where you’ll find the newly-released Session 46 of the Time Travel Campaign. It’s the best place to get a steady stream of new material!

That’s it for me this week. Come back next week where I’m sure to have more news and updates for you!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/shadesofvengeance/era-the-empowered-a-super-powered-rpg?ref=bf6qt6

Now that we’ve surpassed several Stretch Goals, those who are pledged to receive a physical reward will not only get what they’ve originally chosen but will also receive:

  • A postcard featuring one of the Era: The Empowered characters!
  • A 5-Session Campaign which will involve a plot at the Empowered Department.
  • The chance to get the Player’s Guide, designed to let a player create a character and understand enough about the world to play.

Ed has plans for quite a few more Stretch Goals so there’s plenty of room to get some additional juicy extras with your support!

Speaking of extra tidbits, Leo from EraScapes has taken some of the stories from Era: The Empowered’s rulebook and turned them into fantastic audio adventures. Two are currently available for a listen and we will be posting another three before the end of the Kickstarter. This is a great way to get inside the world of the game and I encourage you to check them out.

I have links posted here but you can also find them listed on the Kickstarter page under the section “What is Era: The Empowered?”. Ed will also be posting the newest audio stories under the Kickstarter updates.

I’ll be sending out more news and updates about this Kickstarter as the days roll on but if you’d like a more in-depth connection with this game then I suggest you head over to the Era: The Empowered Facebook group. Ed is posting every day with story snippets, new images, and even an interview or two. Join the conversation and see what’s going on! https://www.facebook.com/groups/eratheempowered/

That’s all I’ve got for you today, be sure to come back on Saturday where I get to show you an image from one of our upcoming expansion books; New Worlds!

Battlecruiser Alamo Will Be Coming To You As An RPG! – The Oracle

Fans of Richard Tongue’s expansive sci-fi military series will have another way to enjoy his rich world as we work to bring you the first-ever rpg based on the Battlecruiser Alamo novels.

This popular novel series will be powered by our Era d10 Rule Set so you’ll be ready to pick up and play this game from the minute it arrives. The storyline is being brought to life and written by not only our own Ed Jowett but also the author of the Battlecruiser Alamo series himself, Richard Tongue!

Plans for this rpg include exploring new regions of space while you take part as a member of the crew on a Thermopylae Class Battlecruiser. This game will bring with it loads of new revelations about the universe that no-one has seen before! So, whether you’re a seasoned veteran of this military series or you’re just hearing about it for the first time, I think you’ll enjoy this game. You won’t have to wait long to get a copy as we do expect this book to be available in the first half of 2018!

There are so many fantastic games coming your way this year. You’ll get to pick between dark terrors with Era: Chosen, super-powered action with Era: The Empowered, military sci-fi with Battlecruiser Alamo and more! Keep checking back here for updates on Alamo and all our other games.

Era: The Empowered Core Rulebook is on Kickstarter now!

Hi everyone!

Many of you have been waiting a while for Era: The Empowered’s Core Rulebook. It’s taken us quite a while to get it properly ready, but we are finally there!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/shadesofvengeance/era-the-empowered-a-super-powered-rpg?ref=acf9se

You can now join us and get hold of the complete Core Rulebook for the first time!

We’re already close to Funded and we’ve been running 12 hours! We have some amazing Stretch Goals listed at the bottom of the campaign, and we’re looking at breaking a few of those, so I think this is going to be another amazing entry in the Era universe.

New Image For Home Base! – The Oracle

One of my favorite things about this job is getting to show off sneak peeks and images in advance of our game’s releases. Today, I get to give you a glimpse of some new art for the Consortium Expansion book, Home Base.

In order to increase the size of your base’s population you’ll need to install some general quarters areas. This image gives you an idea of what that might look like. Once you have that larger populace you’ll be able to staff other facilities and have a much better ability to defend yourself should your base come under attack. As you can see from the image, it’s also a great place for your characters to kick back and get some much-needed relaxation in between those difficult missions.

If you haven’t gotten a chance to play one of our monthly Consortium sessions through Patreon, now is a perfect time. Jonathan Killstring has recently taken Ed Graeme Penman’s position as co-writer with Ed for these sessions. He’s a fantastic addition to our team and you’ll definitely want to get in there and see what they’ve come up with! https://www.patreon.com/SoV

That’s all the news I have for you this week. I’ll see you next Thursday for more updates and sneak peeks!

Empowered Kickstarter Is Getting Its Final Touches – The Oracle

We’re nearing the official unveiling of our latest Era RPG Core Rulebook!

Era: The Empowered will be finished and ready to impress in just a week. Many hands (mine included!) have worked hard to bring the rules, stories, and images of this world to life and we’re excited to finally show it off. Right now, Ed is going through the final stages of setting up the Kickstarter and its video. Warm up those dice rolling fingers because it’s just about time to play!

For those of you who supported the Tales of the Empowered, rest assured that you will get your copy of this compendium of character stories in advance of the Core Rulebook Kickstarter. And, for those of you who missed out on your first chance to add this book to your collection, never fear! Ed has decided to make this book available on the Core Rulebook’s Kickstarter as well. We try to give our fans every opportunity to get as much extra content as they could ever want.

In other game news, Era: The Chosen’s Kickstarter release has been delayed. We are now targeting the second half of this year as its expected debut. We’ve been working hard to bring you top-notch games and we want to be 100% certain that each RPG we create is the best that it can possibly be before it gets to you. Unfortunately, that sometimes means a little extra wait while we make sure the game is ready.

Well, that’s all I have for you today. Come back on Saturday for a new image from one of the upcoming Consortium Expansion books. See you then!
